Hell’s Kitchen has nothing on the flames Giancarlo and Garrett ignite at Restaurant Ransom…

Garrett Ransom is America’s hot chef du jour. He has a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City, a hit reality TV show, and a new man in his bed every week. Yes, he secretly thinks his business partner, Giancarlo “Carlo” Rotolo, is hotter than a ghost pepper, but he would never jeopardize their friendship with a fling. Then Garrett overhears some juicy gossip among the crew and realizes he’ll have to break Giancarlo’s cardinal rule, no banging the staff – for Carlo’s own good, of course. Just a taste of Carlo should be plenty. Long-term relationships aren’t on Garrett’s menu.

Giancarlo’s been in love with Garrett forever. He’s sure Garrett will eventually realize they are destined to be more than business partners. But when Garrett installs his latest boyfriend as their new chef d’cuisine and announces plans to leave Carlo in New York while he opens a second restaurant on the west coast, Carlo is forced to re-evaluate his life.

Can a high-strung British chef and a nice Italian boy from Brooklyn find the perfect fusion of fine-dining and family-style?

Garrett and Giancarlo (Carlo) are currently business partners but have been friends for 10 years since college. Carlo has held a secret love for Garret for most of this time and it tears at Carlos’ heart every time Garrett has one of his random hook-ups. The problem is they both share the same belief that you don’t mix business with pleasure. How does this work for them, well not so well it turns out.

Throughout their time together Carlo has been patient and the business minded one of the pair. For so long he has been able to deal with Garrett’s actions and grasp onto their relationship albeit more a professional one. Due to the success of Garrett’s TV show, Garrett decides to open Ransom West expanding their restaurant business. Garrett makes this decision without consulting Carlos and Carlos sees the writing on the wall. This prompts Carlos to look for something he can fall back on when their relationship falls apart, as he believes it will. So, Carlos proceeds to reopen his families restaurant Rotolo’s with the help his cousin Joey.

Garrett overhears the staff talking about some guy that Carlos is head over heels in love with and that the guy is treating Carlos badly. Garrett becomes enraged and unknown to himself, jealous. In his mind Carlos is a great person and doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment. Garrett sets out to seduce Carlos and pull him away from this “guy” while unbeknownst to him that Garrett himself is the “guy”.

Their journey is a long and frustrating one. There are times when you feel that Garrett is too self-centered and not worth Carlos’ affections. However, as these two guys travel their journey you can see that they are a good fit. You spend a considerable amount of time wishing that Garrett would get his act together and wakeup. Yes, there is history behind his actions but Garrett has a tendency to rub the reader the wrong way but he does grow on you.

A Taste of You is a well written journey that is filled with angst, humor, food, love, and affection. The supporting characters are a major part of the journey and completely add to it. This journey flows well and keeps the reader’s attention with its drama and the connection one makes with the characters. I truly enjoyed following their journey and recommend this heartfelt story.
